Reception will follow
Solemn Professions, different from ordination to the priesthood, is the moment which marks our life long commitment to the brothers of the Order of Preachers. Similar to marriage, it is a celebration in which the brothers are received into the Order as full members. Just as spouses profess their love and fidelity until “death do us part,” we profess obedience as friars preachers “until death.”

Prayer for Dominican Laity Vocations
DOMINICAN LAITY
SAINT MARTIN DE PORRES PROVINCE
Prayer for Dominican Laity Vocations
Loving Lord, through the intercession of our holy father Dominic, our sister Catherine of Siena, and our brother Martin de Porres, raise up vocations to our Province. Send Your Holy Spirit to guide and inspire the hearts of men and women to follow in the footsteps of our holy father Dominic, our sister Catherine of Siena, and our brother Martin de Porres.
Strengthen us in our vocation for preaching and service to God’s people. May our lives always witness to others the gifts of our common life as Lay Dominicans. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord.
Amen

We also have an approved Provincial Mission Statement;
The Lay Dominicans of the Province of St. Martin de Porres, as a fruit of our baptism, are Catholics
called by God to a vocation in the Order of Preachers. We live the four pillars of Dominican spirituality
through community, prayer, study, and preaching with our words and actions. We celebrate our
way of life by serving others through the truth and power of God's love.
The delegates of the LPC were very talented** and a full reporting of their work will be sent out as soon as the meeting minutes are finalized. We attribute our accomplishments to the blessings of the Holy Spirit giving us wisdom and a cooperating spirit.
Past Provincial President (Thank you Jesus), Bruce
** If you want to know about the talents of the LPC delegates in terms of entertainment you should ask your delegate. As a clue let’s just say that Dancing Dominicans would be an apt description.
Lay Provincial Council Meeting January 27, 2011
Dear Chapter Presidents/Delegates
April, 2010
Dear Presidents, Delegates, and Contact Persons,
The Lay Provincial Council met in New Orleans from January 27, 2011 through January 30, 2011, thus it is with great pleasure that I send you the minutes from the meeting.
It is with great humbleness and appreciation and pleasure that I send to you the minutes from the Lay Provincial Council meeting that occurred in New Orleans from January 27 through January 30, 2011. The enclosed packet contains information as to how we plan to govern our Lay Dominican Province for the next three years, with the help of the Lord Jesus Christ through his Holy Spirit and of our father Dominic. Our time together was much work plus fellowship and rejoicing. I hope that all who were present were inspired and enjoyed the week-end as we grew together and witnessed the Dominican tradition continue to unfold during this time together.
The work that was accomplished was extensive and informative. The fruits of our labors culminated in the election of new officers for 2010-2013. They included Provincial President - Mrs. Jo Ann Cotterman, O.P. (St. Dominic Chapter, LA, msymajo6@aol.com); Provincial Vice-President – Mrs. Lana Bastin, O.P.
